太宰 治
明治42年 (1909) – 昭和23年 (1948)
青森県北津軽郡生まれ。本名、津島修治。中学時代から同人誌へ習作を発表。昭和10(1935)年『逆行』が第1回芥川賞候補となる。翌年、第一創作集『晩年』を刊行。以後、『富嶽百景』『津軽』『ヴィヨンの妻』『人間失格』等多くの作品を執筆。
Osamu Dazai
1909 – 1948
Born in Kitatsugaru District, Aomori Prefecture. His real name was Shūji Tsushima. From his middle school years, he published his early works in doujinshi (literary magazines). In 1935, his work Gyakkō (Against the Current) was nominated for the first Akutagawa Prize. The following year, he published his first short story collection, Bannen (The Final Years). He went on to write numerous works, including Fugaku Hyakkei (One hundred views of Mount Fuji), Tsugaru, Viyon no Tsuma (Villon’s Wife), and Ningen Shikkaku (No Longer Human).
